Dar is a companion for your deen that you text in iMessage. What you share with it is personal, sometimes very personal, so here is plainly what we keep, why, and how to delete it.
What we keep
Your phone number, so Dar knows who it's talking to and can text you back.
Your conversation with Dar, so it can remember what you've talked about.
What you tell it about yourself: your name, your city (turned into a location and time zone for prayer times), your tradition or madhab if you mention it, your intention for your deen, which prayers you want reminders for, and short notes about things you've shared so it can follow up (for example, "exam on Thursday").
Prayers you tell it you prayed or missed.
Payment status, meaning only whether you've subscribed. We never see or store your card details; Stripe handles payment.
If you join the waitlist: your first name and phone number.
Why we keep it
Only to run Dar for you: replying to your messages, sending reminders before the prayers you choose, remembering what matters to you, and handling your subscription. We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone except the services below that Dar needs in order to work.
Services that help run Dar
Anthropic (Claude) writes Dar's replies, so your messages and the notes above are sent to it to generate each response. Anthropic does not use this data to train its models.
Photon delivers messages between Dar and your iMessage.
Railway hosts Dar and stores its data.
Stripe processes payments if you subscribe.
Prayer time and map services (Aladhan and Open-Meteo) receive your city or its coordinates, never your name or number, to work out prayer times.
Deleting your data
Text !reset to Dar at any time. That immediately deletes your profile, your conversation history, your prayer log and your waitlist entry. You can also ask us to delete everything, and we will.
Something important
Dar is a companion, not a scholar, a doctor or a crisis service. If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself, please call or text 988 in the US, or your local emergency number.
Changes and questions
If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and change the date at the top. Questions or deletion requests: hello@getdar.world.
